Wesley United Church is a welcoming, progressive, open, justice seeking, Christian and spiritual community in St Andrews, NB. The present church building located at 77 William Street held its inaugural Sunday service in 1867 as a Methodist Church and in 1925 the local Methodist congregation became part of the United Church of Canada. By 1986, all the stained glass windows in the sanctuary had been completed and dedicated.
Marriage Policy
At Wesley United Church we have an inclusive and welcoming marriage policy. All couples legally eligible to be married in New Brunswick regardless of the sexual orientation or gender identity of the individuals concerned, are eligible to be married at Wesley United Church or by the minister at a location of their choosing. Couples are expected to approach our minister for an initial conversation and their request must be approved by the Wesley United Church Board.
Use of Sanctuary
Our church building is available to anyone wishing to use it for wedding and funerals.
The church sanctuary is the spiritual home for a worshipping community of faith. We ask that you treat the sanctuary the way you would treat a friend’s home. Use of the building involves regular maintenance and cleaning, heating and lighting.
A minimum fee of $250.00 per event for the use of the church building is requested.
Weddings and funerals at Wesley United Church are conducted by the resident Minister. With our resident minister’s approval, another member of the clergy, priest, rabbi, spiritual leader or other may officiate at the ceremony. Approval for this request must be granted by the Church Board.
In the event of a Civil Marriage Ceremony Request, (eg. those wishing to use the church as a back-up venue), and whether it is used or not, a fee of $250.00 will apply and payable at the time of the request. Approval for this request must be approved by the Church Board.
